My NICU Reunion
The second annual Dupont Hospital NICU reunion was held on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Sports & Fitness Park on the Dupont Campus. This year the theme was "Rodeo Roundup" and little ones showed up dressed for the occasion in hats & boots. NICU graduates and their families enjoyed a petting zoo, pony rides as well as games, crafts and snacks. The NICU nurses enjoyed reuniting with more than 180 families (and nearly 500 participants).
Music and Movies in the Park
Immediately following the NICU reunion we switched gears and set up for our first Music and Movies in the Park event. Families could spend the day enjoying the sunshine, playing Frisbee and relaxing on the lawn. Entertainment included two bands (Mike Conley and Chris Dodds as well as Metavari) and two movies on the big screen (The Incredibles and National Treasure). The event was free with donations encouraged to Matthew 25. Three local not-for-profit organizations sold snacks and drinks.

"Dupont eases anxiety with hotel-type amenities"
From an article in The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette:
Until a few years ago, hospitals were never compared to four-star restaurants. Hospital food—those plastic trays filled with limp green beans and jiggling squares of gelatin—was notoriously bad, a deserving target for comedians and goofy get-well cards ("If the doctors don't kill you, the food sure will!"). But including hospitality-based services at hospitals is part of a current national trend says Mike Schatzlein, CEO of Dupont Hospital and COO of Lutheran Health Network.
