A support group can help you through a crisis, illness or other life-changing event by letting you know you're not alone. Discussion of issues and emotions within an understanding group often assists in the development of coping skills. The length of time a person spends in a support group varies according to individual need. Some groups deal with very specific topics, while others are more general. Frequently, people who have been helped by a support group go on to help others within the group or become facilitators themselves. The following are support groups currently meeting monthly at the Dupont Resource Center. Please check the calendar of events for dates and times.
- Diabetes — Facilitated by a diabetes nurse educator from the Lutheran Health Network, these sessions are open to both men and women. Guest speakers regularly attend, with specific topics of discussion at each meeting.
