You're one in a million. (Now, get some sleep.)

The average person sleeps for one-third of his life. That one third helps determine how well the other two-thirds are lived.

Unfortunately, about half of Americans experience some sort of sleeping problem at some time during their lives. There are more than 80 classified sleep disorders that can lead to a range of symptoms such as snoring, daytime sleepiness, memory loss, irritability, depression and sexual dysfunction. Sleep disorders can affect job performance and relationships, and some can even be life-threatening because they create a greater risk of obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke.

Most sleep disorders can be managed and even corrected if properly diagnosed and treated. The Dupont Center for Sleep Health located in Fort Wayne, Indiana can diagnose and treat conditions such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia, restless legs and parasomnias in adults and children.

Our team features physicians board-certified in sleep medicine, including a pediatric specialist and a caring staff of sleep technologists and respiratory therapists. In the Center’s outpatient setting, we record and monitor brain activity, breathing patterns, heart rhythms and muscle activity as the patient sleeps comfortably in a private suite. The team, including the patient’s physician, then develops an individualized treatment plan for each patient. Patients are scheduled for a follow-up visit to review the results and discuss treatment options. Detailed summary reports are mailed to physicians within approximately two weeks.
